The public claimed to have been held back by traffic officers for more than 40 minutes. The frustrated civilians showed their anger by honking their horns as the president passed through. In the spur of the moment, a civilian started shouting “This road belongs more to the public than the President, we made the President”, to which all people started chanting “yes yes” and started moving forward avoiding all the instructions of the traffic.

Halting of traffic is quite common in Nepal as several VIP uses this privilege for their own convenience. Similar incidents happened not too long ago during the Asia Pacific Summit where civilians and traffic were halted for more than 2 hours to let the VIP’s get to their residence. During peak traffic hours, more than a hundred people are left waiting for traffic to resume as normal.
