Shilpa Pokhrel is a famous Nepali actress and model well-known for her beautiful acting and portraying herself. She got her stardom in a very short period of time because of her skills and talent. She began her acting career as an actress from the old Nepali teleserial “Gharbeti Ba” and since then moving to model in music videos to acting in movies, she has made her space in the Nepali digital industry.

Early Life and Education

Shilpa was born in her hometown, Pokharia, Biratnagar where she had spent her childhood. She also did her schooling there. After completion of her SLC(School Leaving Certificate), she left her hometown and moved to Kathmandu for further studies. She was only 15 when she moved to Kathmandu to track her future.

 

Digital Career

Shilpa initially started her career as a model. Then she got to introduce herself as an actress through a teleserial named”Gharbeti Ba”, broadcasted from Kantipur Television, as one of the main characters. After 16 episodes of the show, she shifted herself to modeling in music videos which were gaining popularity at that time. Her first music video was Purna Rai’s “halka halka…” which got released quite a time later after she had already gained her popularity as a modeling actress. Her first released video featuring her was Anju Panta’s and Sworup Raj Acharya’s “Timi Kasto Hune…”. She has been featured in more than 150 music videos. Shilpa is one of the most successful music video models of her time. Additionally, she has also appeared in multiple audio-visual advertisements and TV commercials.

She stepped her foot into the movie path with her debut movie “Lazza” in 2014, which is Chabi Raj Ojha’s production. The movie did very well in the box office. After that, she was signed in many other movies as well. “Hawaldaar Suntali”, “Brindaban”, “Kismat-2”, “Mangalam” were her movies under Chabi Raj Ojha’s production. And most of these movies were successful which added Shilpa’s achievement and establishment in the Nepali Movie Industry.  Fagu, Birangana, and Villian are her other movies. Despite the success or failure of her works, Shilpa is really preferred for her acting and she has earned a lot of fans through her talent. She also debuted as a producer in 2017.

Shilpa made her status in the Nepali Cinema Industry in a quick snap of time. Thus for her skills, she has been praised numerous times. She received the Best Actress Award at D-cine Awards, 2015. Also, she had been nominated as best debut Actress at the NEFTA Film Awards in 2015.

Relationship Status

Shilpa was rumored to be in a relationship with a director before she met Chabi Raj Ojha. After starring in Chabi’s movie “Lazza”, the two of them were rumored to have been in a relationship at the time of the release of the movie. Initially, they had been denying all of the rumors. But in reality, they had been seeing each other furtively. On July 13, 2016, Shilpa and Chhabi got married secretly. Nobody was told about the marriage and it was kept a secret until Chhabi decided to tell about his marriage in 2019. They also got the marriage registered in 2019. But in less than a year of their marriage registration, Shilpa had filed a case of domestic violence against Chabi in the police station. Ojha, reportedly, had beaten Pokhrel so severely that, according to medical reports, she was suffering from a hearing impairment. And later Shilpa also filed for divorce against her husband Ojha having domestic violence as the reason for their separation.

The news of their divorce had taken over the news market as it was the fourth time the renowned producer had been found unlucky with his marital life. Before Shilpa, he was known to be married to his three ex-wives including another superstar of the Nepali movie industry, Rekha Thapa. In an interview, Chhabi Raj Ojha told that his marriage with Shilpa was actually her second marriage but Shilpa has admitted that she was having an affair but wasn’t married.

Except for an actress and a model, Shilpa is a trained beautician. But she prefers herself in the field that she has chosen. She was recognized as a potential person by Chabi raj Ojha, who had also given a break to the Nepali film line’s heartbeat Rajesh Hamal and Rekha Thapa. Shilpa is a single child of her parents and her father owns Raj Chemical Udhyog in Biratnagar. Despite everything, Shilpa is a very hard-working figure, appreciable actress, a gorgeous model, and an honest person who gives her best to anything that she’s given to accomplish.
