Shweta Khadka is a Nepali Actress, Social Activist, Model, and Producer. It’s not been long since she debuted in the film industry. 2008 was her break year and since then she has earned quite a nice name and fame for her skills and acting by the viewers. She originally had no intent to be an actress but when the sharp-eyed and talented actor Shree Krishna Shrestha persuaded her and her family, Shweta finally stepped into the film lime. Having faced a huge trauma and loss in her life she still is shining like a star and is loved by most of her viewers.

Early Life and Education

Shweta belongs to a normal background. She was born on the 5th of February, 1989 in Khopasi, Panauti, at Kavrepalanchowk. She is the daughter of Ot bahadur KC and Goma kc, her father and mother respectively. Her mother is the youngest wife among her father’s four wives. Shweta spent her childhood in Khopasi and did her schooling as well over there. She passed her SLC from Shree Ram High School, Khopasi. Further, she completed her +2 from Indreshwor Higher Secondary School.

After that, she entered Kathmandu for studying ahead and joined TU. At around that time Late Shree Krishna Shrestha was in search of a new actress for his movie and that is when he spotted Shweta and asked her for her views. Despite not belonging to a filmy backgrounded family Shewta’s parents supported her and that is how she got an opportunity to be recognized in the film industry.

Movie and Career

Shweta’s first movie was “Kaha Bhetiyela” which was produced by Shree Krishna himself. Her acting was liked by a lot of viewers of the movie, despite being her first camera-facing, and the movie was a super hit. After That, she started doing roles in other movies as well. Hasi Deu Ek Fera, Shreeman Shreemati, Kohinoor, Kanchi, etc. are some of the movies that she acted in. Kohinoor was the last movie she did together with her husband which also was a blockbuster and this gave Shweta a lot of love and respect from the audiences. Other than that she’s a movie producer and produced her movie “Kaanchi” which didn’t do that well though.

Besides the movie profession, she has a keen interest in social work. Thus, she founded the Shweta Shree Foundation on 26th February 2017 to work for the underprivileged and ultra-poor people of Nepal. The Foundation was established in the fond memory of Late Shree Krishna Shrestha. She is currently affiliated to the managing director of MRS & Engineering (P) Ltd.

 

Relationship Status

Shweta had met Shree Krishna Shrestha during his search for a new actress for his film. After that, they worked in the movie together and happened to see in and out from work as well. Being in love for quite some time, the two finally got married in 2014. But the storm of pain surrounded her life within one month of their marriage. Shweta had to lose her beloved husband. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and bone cancer and died at the age of 47 in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi on 10 August 2014. This put Shweta in huge grief and was unable to continue her career for quite a long time.

 

She recently had her second marriage after she tied the nuptial knot with Bijayendra Singh Rawat from Dhangadhi on December 7, 2020. Her marriage news came to the fore after her wedding card went viral on social networking sites. The duo was married in a small, private ceremony at Gokarna Forest Resort, Kathmandu.

 

Awards

Sweta has acted in a number of movies. She won the National Film Award for the category of Best Actress for the movie Kaha Bhetiyela in 2009 which was the most loved movie of that time. The film Kaha Bhetiyela was released in 2008 and was quite famous among the Nepali crowd. The public loved the movie and the actress Sweta as well for her amazing performance. She also won the Popular Actress award in 2014 for her movie Kohinoor.
